Hebbar is inspired by rain and the myriad emotions and sensations it inspires, not just in her, but in everyone. Rain drops gently brushing and dampening clothes and light reflecting off heavy rain clouds are some of the experiences her paintings convey to the viewer. She says, “Portraying rain through colours comes naturally to me. It is one of the things I can paint about and never run out of ways to portray. It always makes me a little sad, fills me with an unknown longing, it throws me sometimes into a spiritual trance in which all life seems to take on a new meaning. With each clap of thunder I sense the retribution against injustice, with each drop of water that touches the earth I feel the sense of goodness, the blessing of plenty and the promise of well-being”.
