My Art Practice speaks of the distinct artistic traditions of the Bhil tribe, an Indigenous people of Central India, mainly spread across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Tripura. My life’s work has been dedicated to preserving and conserving traditional Bhil Art and Culture, while also adoring it in my own artistic endeavors.
The artist shares that the most important objective of his designs and paintings is constituted towards increasing awareness and knowledge of the Bhil tribal rural life and that of the Bhagoria festival (A festival celebrated in Dhar district, signifying the completion of harvesting); specifically amongst the younger generation, passing it on to them so that they may learn, preserve and carry it forward.
I like portraying a large number of Tadi trees along and cattle, along with intricate customs to tribal designs and depicting the vernacular architectural structures. Every single piece that I’ve created has its own story that finds its origins from the Bhil tribe. One can see a spectrum of colors that depicts every aspect of: – life, nature, spirituality, celebration, vivid landscapes and the romantic spirit of the Bhagoria festival.
